- Excuse me, but it would never even cross my mind to ship something
- valuable, like a computer, thru the USPS. There are competitive
- carriers which are MUCH more reliable, faster, and safer.

- Civil Servants. What do you expect? Rocket Scientists working
- behind that counter? I would've walked out without saying a word
- to her if you get that kind of trreatment. This is why the
- private carriers are kicking the crap out of the USPS these
- days. And despite Postmaster General Runyon's National Press
- Club luncheon speeches to the contrary, when they put people like
- that woman on the front line to deal with customers, all they
- do is tarnish their already pathetic joke of an image. She
- doesn't care - she's a civil servant. She can't be fired.

-
- Express Mail is supposed to guarantee next-day delivery. I don't
- remember seeing any disclaimers about this or that holiday
- affecting the schedule. A service guarantee is a service guarantee.

-
- You had this expensive item. Did you send it express mail or
- regular air mail or parcel post or what? Express mail would've
- cost more but would have been safer, trackable, and probably
- a helluva lot faster, if you had to use the USPS.

- Whoops. :( (Then again, dummying up a sales receipt is rather
- trivial if you have a computer and a printer :)

- You don't need to. USPS employees (the ones with "disgruntled"
- badges on their shirts) seem to already do a fine job of killing
- their fellow employees and supervisors.
-
- And guess why - because the USPS is badly organized, and badly run.
- It's one of the single largest employers in the USA. Despite
- decades of promises of better service, they give us Marilyn Monroe
- and Elvis stamps and service continues to go down the toilet. The
- employees are underpaid and overworked and the mgrs don't care.
- Next time you ever have to ship something like this, go with UPS
- or Fedex.
-
- With Fedex, your package gets a barcode scan, and you can even
- follow it every step of the way on the Web at http://www.fedex.com
-
- Unfortunately you learned about just how bad the USPS is
- the hard way. I feel for you (honestly) but had it been me,
- I *never* would've used them for this type of transaction.
